Thailand is a fantastic place to do the PADI MSDT Internship course. PADI MSDT stands for PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer and it’s the next step after completing the PADI IDC course. The PADI MSDT Internship course at Sairee Cottage Diving on Koh Tao, Thailand is specifically designed to help you get a better job as A PADI Dive Instructor.
Why is Thailand so great for your PADI MSDT course?
Thailand, and specifically, Koh Tao is one of the best dive training locations in the world. Koh Tao not only offers stunning dive sites, it offers near-perfect diver training conditions with appropriate training depths, bottom composition and contours, different levels of currents and visibility, diverse marine life, amazing wrecks and so much more. The PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer Internship course has very different dive-objectives for each of the dives that makes Koh Tao the ultimate place to do your PADI MSDT.
Why is the PADI MSDT rating an important one to have?
There are several different reasons why having the PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating gives you more job opportunities. First of all someone that is an MSDT-rated Instructor can teach at least 5 PADI specialty courses. This makes it more likely that Dive Centres will hire you over an Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) because you as an MSDT-level Instructor can offer the Dive Centre’s customers more options.
Another great thing about the MSDT rating is that you have also certified at least 25 PADI divers, showing the Dive Shops that you are already an experienced Instructor. Compare it with university; you spend 6 years in school studying to get a qualification and find work only to find out that many jobs require real-life experience. It is often the same dilemma faced by new Instructors.
Thirdly having the PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer certification shows PADI Dive centres that you are the type who invests in your future, the type who wants to increase your skills and knowledge, and that you take your career seriously.
The last benefit is that of being more of a ‘guru’. Even if you will just teach less-specialized recreational courses, you still have more knowledge to share with your students and it will be easier for you to promote continuing education courses like the PADI Advanced course and, of course, your PADI Specialty courses. All of this makes PADI Dive Centres more likely to give you work.
What is the difference between the MSDT Prep and the full MSDT Course?
It is important to understand the differences between the PADI MSDT prep course and the full PADI MSDT course. The MSDT prep course only includes teaching you 5 Specialty Instructor ratings. After completion you can then teach those selected PADI Specialty course anywhere in the world. To get the PADI Master Scuba Diver MSDT rating you also need to have certified 25 students on any diving level. By doing the full MSDT course with us at Sairee Cottage Diving you will receive a full Dive Instructor Internship to get those certifications and you will leave with the full PADI MSDT rating. Because of the great deals at Sairee Cottage Diving, most IDC candidates do choose to do the full MSDT course with us.
What is included in the Sairee Cottage Diving MSDT Course on Koh Tao?
Our end goal is to make you successful and give you as many opportunities for work in the dive industry as possible. To do this our PADI Platinum Course Director Marcel van den Berg has designed a PADI MSDT course that teaches you more specialties, more real life information, a course that goes much further than the minimum PADI standards, a course that invites dive specialists as guest speakers, adds more training dives and includes a unique dive job placement day as part of the MSDT program. And this is just the MSDT Prep course!
For the full MSDT, Marcel adds a full Diving Instructor Internship to give you all that vital experience needed to get that dream dive job.
Some of the biggest complaints in the professional Dive Industry are that Scuba Instructor Internships are often rushed, sometimes the intern is just used for free labour, or worse, having instructors mentoring you whilst breaking multiple PADI Standards. For this reason we made the Dive Instructor Internship with us a fully monitored program that includes an Internship Manual written by Award-winning PADI Course Director Marcel van den Berg. It includes diving certifications for your CV, frequent mentor updates and debriefs, a dive resume CV writing workshop, quality controlled courses for you to assist and, most importantly, all of the PADI Instructors that you will be assisting will be Senior Instructors teaching all the courses according to strict PADI standards.
Our Senior Scuba Instructors will also give you full daily briefings and debriefs on your progress. After this program you will have gained a ton of real life experience that is worth Gold!
